ある日、帰宅したら妻がいなかった。

One day, there was no wife at home.

　　２０年前のある日、仕事を終えて家に帰ったら妻がいなかった。あの日から私のシングルファーザーの生活が始まった。翌日より、食事の世話や洗濯は母の助けを借りて何とかやりくりしてきた。

    20 years ago, there was no wife when I came home.  Since then I've lived as a single father.  My mother helped me to prepare meals and to wash clothes fsor my daughters.

　　というのは、ちょうど同じ頃にバブルが弾け、少子化で塾生の数が減り始め、大規模塾が進出してきて、トリプルパンチをくらい、仕事が厳しい環境に置かれていたのだ。

    At that time, bubble economy bursted.  The number of children was decreasing and a big school put a branch school in the next town.  My school was in trouble.
