「困った子ちゃん」　troublemaker

　　教師も塾講師も、勉強ができない子の指導を好む人は少ない。なぜかというと、

Because it’s a tiresome work.  Smart students can solve problems easily and average students can do it after a few try.

トをやってもらう時に賢い子は１回ですむ。普通の子は２回ですむ。しかし、できない子は、選択肢が５個あると何も考えずにア、イ、ウ、エ、オと順番に答えてくる。

But bad students choose right answers at random.  They don’t like thinking itself.  This means teachers have to check the answer sheet several times and it doesn’t work to make them smart.

　つまり、何も考えないわけだ。だから、最悪５回採点しないと終わらない。時間のムダだから解説しようとすると

  This is ridiculous and and a waste of time and energy.

「オレだけ馬鹿扱いした！」

  However they get mad at what we say if we are honest enough to say this is ridiculous.

　と抗議がくる。

　　また、採点するのも賢い子なら間違いの数が少ないので採点が楽。しかし、できない子は間違いだらけだから採点ミスの確率が増える。すると、

  They make a lot of mistakes and the possibility for us teachers to make mistakes when we check their answer sheets.

「ボクは正解を書いたのにバツにされた！」

  Then they again get mad at our making mistakes although they make a lot of mistakes always.

　と猛抗議がくるのが普通だ。以前、名古屋の大規模塾にいる時に、短気な先生が

  When I was working at a private school in Nagoya, a young teacher scolded a bad student saying

「オマエが馬鹿だから採点ミスが起こるのだろうがぁ！！」

 “This is because you are so stupid!!”

　と言ってしまったことがある。あとで保護者からクレームがきて、その子は塾をやめた。その講師の先生は、塾長からこってり嫌味を言われて絞られていた。気の毒。世の中の多くの人は、そういう勉強のできない子に味方をする人が多い。

  Then his parents came to school and our boss apologized about what the young teacher said.

　しかし、現場に来れば分かるが、勉強ができない子の９割は素行不良で、怠け者で、なんでも人のせいにし、非常識な言動で周囲を困らせ、大声を出し、備品を壊し、無断欠席を繰り返し、月謝を踏み倒し、本当にろくでなしのことが多いのだ。

  If you are in a teaching job, you can easily understand that students who are not good at solving problems are in general bad mannered and cannot behave well and sometimes steal books in a school.

　　だから、勉強が出来ないのだけどね。

  That is why they are called bad students.

　　同じクラスには、デキスギ君のような生徒もいるわけだから。

  On the other hand, we have very good students who never bother us teachers.
