「あの子たち、みんな死ねばいいのに」（４）

　　「Dr. コトー診療所」のコトー先生は、離島にいるというだけでヤブ医者扱いだった。本当は名医でも素人には分からない。「白い巨塔」の財前先生のように、大病院にいると患者の命などなんとも思わなくても名医と見なされる。里美医師のように良心的な医師は小さな病院に追いやられたりする。

　　If you are working as a doctor in a small island, you are regarded as a bad doctor.  If you are working in a big hospital, people believe you are a good doctor.  But the reality shows this is not always true.

 

　　しかし、世間の人はそういう内部情報が分からないので知名度や建物の大きさで判断して命を落としたりする。

   But they cannot know how good the doctor is only by appearance.  So it is natural that they judge him or her according to his or her workplace.  And sometimes they lose their life.

 

　　私は名古屋の大規模塾で４０人講師の中で２番人気だったし、英検１級や通訳ガイドの国家試験を持っているし、京大二次の成績開示は英語も数学もボーダーを越えているし、指導した塾生は京大医学部、阪大医学部、名大医学部に合格した。

   I passed some difficult English tests and my students passed the entrance exams to the University of Kyoto, medical department.  However still people believe I might not a good teacher because I’m living in a rural area.  This is ridiculous, isn’t it?

 

　　しかし、三重県の田舎の実家にもどって自分の塾を開設したとたんヤブ医者扱いになったのは先に書いたとおりだ。Dr.コトーと同じ事情だ。一部の高学力の子たちは、そういう外見だけで判断しないので支持者が増えて倒産せずにすんでいる。

　　ただ、力量のある子でも見かけだけで判断する子が多いのは驚きもした。それも、仕方ないことなので傍観している。私は、自分と家族と塾生が幸福であればそれでいいし、それしか出来ない。

  Smart students have supported my school.  They don’t decide he or she is good or not just by the working place.  I accept this reality.

 

　　数年前からネットや写メが中学生や高校生に普及してきたので、アメブロにブログを書き始めたら、アットいう間に「受験生」ジャンルのランキングが１位になった。それで、試しに「通信添削」コースを設置したら毎年倍々ゲームで生徒が増えて今では処理できないほどになってきた。北海道から鹿児島まで通信生がいる状態だ

　　Since SNS and cell phone camera spread, I began to write my views in blog.  Mine became No.1 in 受験生.  So my school started a correspondent course.  Now my school has students from Hokkaido to Kyushu.

 

　　経営の大きな柱に育ちつつある。どんなに遠くても、直接会わなくても支持してくれる人がいるわけだ。私は生き残るためには

「支持者とファンを大切にする」

　　しか選択肢はないわけだ。難関校に合格するような子たちは、タレントのＣＭなどには見向きもしないので助かっているわけだ。

  I have quite a few students who like my school.  So what I should do is to try to give the best service to my fans.  Good students in general don’t trust TV commericials using famous entertainers.
