なつかしい静ちやん！
おわかれの時がきました。
兄ちやんはいよいよ出げきします。
　Dear Shizu. It is time to say good-bye now. I'm going to the battlefield.

この手紙がとどくころは、沖なは（縄）の海に散っています。
思いがけない父母の死で、幼ない静（しぃ）ちやんを一人のこしていくのは、とてもかなしいのですが、ゆるして下さい。
When you get this note, I am already dead in Okinawa. Unexpectedly our father and mother died and now I have to leave you alone. I'm very sorry. But please try to forgive me.

兄ちやんのかたみとして、静ちやんの名で預けていた郵便通帳とハンコ、これは静ちやんが女学校に上るときにつかって下さい。
時計と軍刀も送ります。
I send you a bankbook and my seal as my keepsake. Use it when you enter a girl's school. I send my watch and saber, too.

これも木下のおじさんたのんで、売つてお金にかえなさい。
Ask uncle Kinoshita to sell and get some money.

兄ちやんのかたみなどより、これからの静ちやんの人生のはうが大じなのです。
もうプロペラがまわっています。
さあ、出げきです。
では兄ちやんは征きます。
